Council Votes Funding For Town's Cycling Plans

A plan to create two cycle routes in Silver Hill and Col Stephen's Way was given backing by Tenterden Town Council's external committee last night (Monday, 10 December).
The committee recommended spending £10,350 to commission Sustrans, the national sustainable transport authority, to progress cycleways in the town. Ashford Borough Council ward members will be approached for grant assistance & Cllr Callum Knowles expressed a willingness to contribute.
The Mayor of Tenterden, Cllr Pam Smith, commented: "We believe we should support initiatives like this which encourage healthy activity and environmental responsibility. And it's hard to imagine a more beautiful setting for cyclists than Tenterden and its surrounding countryside"
