Update on Re-ordering of Recreation Ground
14th Jun 2019
HIGH SPEC SKATE PARK, EXCITING CHILDREN’S PLAY SPACE AND YOUTH HUB FEATURE IN PLANS FOR RE-ORDERED RECREATION GROUND
A planning and information programme for the re-ordering of the Recreation Ground was outlined at last Monday night’s (10th June) meeting of Tenterden Town Council’s internal committee.
Further meetings of the Recreation Ground Focus Group will be held later this month and in July and August, with the objective of staging an exhibition in September, when the public can vote on the scheme.
The current plans, which are scheduled to be rolled out on a phased basis, include…..
- A high-spec skate park, which will also attract BMX and scooter riders, and informed by meetings with local skateboarders and a skate park specialist. The design will blend in with the Recreation Ground landscaping, and the skate park is in the first phase of the redevelopment scheme.
- A youth hub, which has been presented to local young people and youth workers, possibly housed in an eco-friendly building; and
- A children’s play space, with features such as boulders, climbing walls, zip wire, trampoline and adventure park features.
- New tennis and netball courts.
Following the public exhibition and analysis of results, the Recreation Ground scheme will go to the Town Council for ratification.
