Plans for 60 Retirement Flats rejected

17th Oct 2019

Proposals for a major development of 60 flats for active retirees at London Beach Golf Club were rejected at last night’s (Monday, 14 October) meeting of Tenterden Town Council’s planning committee.

Refusal was on the grounds that the development is not in the Local Plan; loss of green space; significant erosion of the gap between settlements; is not in line with the Council’s ecology and wildlife policies; contradicts the policy regarding suitable distance to the nearest facilities; the incompatibility of materials used in the building; and the carbon impact of vehicles leaving the site.

The committee’s decision will be communicated to Ashford Borough Council, which will determine the application.
