Councillors hear updates on Cinema, Town Co-ordinator and road repairs

Tenterden Town Council’s committees met via Zoom video-link on Tuesday (14 April) for the second time since the outbreak of Covid-19.

Councillors heard that…

  • The Cinema Focus Group has reviewed the architect’s first draft of the building feasibility study and made several suggestions. The latest developments on the cinema project are scheduled to briefed to the Town Council and local residents at a date to be agreed.

  • A job specification for a Tenterden Town Co-ordinator has now been signed off, and the post is to be advertised after the pandemic. The new role is aimed at maximising tourism and business opportunities in the town, and follows the publication last year of the Destination Management Plan which identified areas of unfulfilled potential, particularly in terms of visitors enjoying the full 'Tenterden experience' and all its attractions.

  • Kent County Council highways team’s activities are currently restricted to the bare minimum, but they will continue to make temporary repairs to Recreation Ground Road if they are a threat to safety. Developers Dandara remain responsible for full repairs to the road once house building is complete.
