Have your say on council budget 2022/23

Now is your chance to have your say on Ashford Borough Council’s proposed budget for 2022/23.

This is the second budget cycle following the start of the Covid Pandemic, although some areas of income are still below pre pandemic forecasts, recovery continues. The 2022/23 budget proposes a small council tax rise (band D 9.6p per week) and includes a further savings requirement of £827,800 which were identified last year to support services.

Residents, businesses and parish councils are invited to have their say on the proposals before the budget is finalised and confirmed in March.

Cllr Neil Shorter, Portfolio holder for Finance and IT, said: “This is another challenging but deliverable budget following cuts in income following the Covid Pandemic, and is in line with the Council’s revised medium term financial plan.

“This budget supports the Council’s new Corporate Plan which works towards creating a greener and more resilient Ashford Borough for the future.

“We welcome and will carefully consider comments from anyone who lives or works within Ashford borough on these proposals. Please read the document and let us know if you have any feedback.”
