Roundabout must be built first, insists Town Council Planning Committee

A request by Redrow, the developers of the Tilden Gill housing estate, to delay building a roundabout at the junction of Beacon Oak Road and the A28 was rejected last night (Monday, 7 September) by Tenterden Town Council’s planning committee.

The developers wanted to postpone the building of the £700,000 roundabout until the 40th property on the 100-home estate was occupied.

However, the planning committee insisted that the original condition – that the roundabout should be built before the first house was occupied – must remain, and that a traffic management plan must be submitted to address road safety and traffic flow issues.
