Tenterden Social Hub Appeals for Community Support

Tenterden Social Hub is appealing for help to continue their wide range of services which they deliver to the town’s old, frail and lonely residents and adults with a disability.

The Hub, in Church Road, Tenterden is recognised for the breadth and excellence of its services, which it aims to continue providing throughout the coronavirus crisis or for as long as we are able to in this changing and challenging environment.

They are seeking….

  • Drivers with vehicles and business insurance to help deliver the Meals on Wheels service.
  • Extra people for the Helping Hands service, which provides services including home visits, shopping and house cleaning.
  • Financial support. Normal fundraising activities have been adversely affected by the crisis, and donations can be made via cheque, payable to Tenterden Social Hub, or by credit card, tel: 01580 762882.
  • Social Hub chairman Roy Isworth, chief executive Spencer Goddard and Tenterden Mayor Jean Curteis are still proposing to go ahead with their recently-postponed charity abseil as soon as possible. Sponsorship can be made via  via the Virgin Giving Money link

The Hub may also be able to help provide childcare and other support for key workers, but is awaiting further clarification from the government.

Says chief executive Spencer Goddard: “Tenterden has a superb community spirit, and we are appealing to all those who can help to get in touch, either by phone on 01580 762882 or email hub@tsh.org.uk

“These are exceptional times, and we aim to continue providing an exceptional service as long as is humanly possible.”
