Town Hall Closes, but Council Continues to Provide Information and Advice Services

Although the Town Hall will be closed as from Thursday, 19 March, Tenterden Town Council has pledged to continue providing its information and advice services via email and telephone.

During the period of the coronavirus crisis, meetings of the Town Council and its committees will be suspended. Advice is being sought on progressing time-critical decisions, including planning applications.

The Town Hall and Pavilion will be closed for their regular schedule of classes – the council has offered the Pavilion to Ivy Court Surgery for the provision of telephone and video appointments and allow better separation.

The council’s maintenance team, whose duties include looking after the Tenterden and St Michaels Recreation Grounds, will continue to work for the time being.

Says Tenterden Town Clerk Phil Burgess: “Clearly this is a very fast-moving situation, but we’re doing all we can to help co-ordinate decisions and the dissemination of information with local medical services, schools and the Social Hub, which cares for older, frail and lonely residents and adults with a disability.

“Those seeking advice from the Town Council can do so by telephoning 01580 762271 or emailing townhall@tenterdentowncouncil.gov.uk

Visitors to the Town Hall to talk to Ashford Borough Council representatives are advised to telephone Customer Services on 01233 331111.

At a specially-convened meeting on Tuesday, 17 March, which was attended by representatives from local schools, Ivy Court surgery, St Mildred’s Church and the Social Hub, decisions included…
